BioVera CBD Gummies Side Effects: Studies, Medicines and Safety

Find out which side effects CBD studies report, which medicines to ask about, who should check with a clinician first, and what the seller says about safety.

Short answer: CBD’s side effects are described as more benign than THC’s in a 2020 review of chronic pain, but epilepsy trials at medicine-strength doses reported diarrhea, somnolence and sedation, and more serious adverse events than placebo. If you searched this as biovera cbd gummies, it is the same product, and the sales page describes it as CBD isolate gummies with 0% THC.

Safety summary

What is in it: CBD. The BioVera sales page calls the gummies “CBD Isolate” gummies, and the bottle shows 15 gummies, 525MG and 0%THC. The per-gummy amount and the full ingredient list are not on the sales page, so check the label before you order.

Effects named in the studies: diarrhea, somnolence (sleepiness) and sedation, which the 2023 meta-analysis found more likely on CBD than on placebo.

Named only on a retailer’s list: drowsiness, dry mouth, loss of appetite, fatigue and nausea. A French CBD retailer’s guide lists these with no study or frequency behind them.

Medicines to ask about: clobazam, which the epilepsy trials studied alongside CBD, and tobacco, alcohol and opioids, which a 2023 NHLBI workshop named as co-use that needs more study.

Ask a clinician first: anyone on prescription medicine or with a serious medical condition, and anyone who is pregnant or nursing. The seller says the product is not for anyone under 21.

What is in BioVera CBD Gummies?

The BioVera sales page lists CBD as the active ingredient. It uses several descriptions: “CBD Isolate” gummies, “Includes Isolate Cannabinoids,” and “Cold-Pressed & Unrefined CBD Oil.” It also mentions “Triple filtration technology for THC removal” and calls the formula “ALL NATURAL.” Its descriptions mix “unrefined” with “isolate,” so ask the company which form is in the bottle before you order.

What does the research say about CBD?

CBD (cannabidiol)

The most detailed human trial data come from prescription-strength CBD used for epilepsy. A 2023 meta-analysis of CBD trials in refractory epilepsy pooled six randomized trials that used purified oral CBD at 10 to 50 mg/kg per day for up to 16 weeks. Compared with placebo, the odds of at least a 50% drop in seizures were higher on CBD (odds ratio 2.45). The same review found adverse events were more likely on CBD, including diarrhea, somnolence and sedation (odds ratio 1.81). Serious adverse events were also more likely on CBD (odds ratio 2.86).

Those are medicine-strength doses in people with severe epilepsy.

A 2020 review of CBD for chronic pain in Best Practice & Research Clinical Anaesthesiology says the exact mechanism for CBD “is currently unknown,” and that the side effects of CBD itself “have been shown to be overall much more benign” than THC’s. For a wider list of CBD trials, see our CBD benefits evidence (our research library) page.

What are the side effects of CBD gummies?

The 2023 meta-analysis of prescription-strength CBD trials named the effects below. These reports are for CBD in general, not for BioVera’s gummies.

Side effect Where it is reported Notes from the source
Diarrhea 2023 meta-analysis of CBD trials Listed among adverse events more likely on CBD than placebo
Sleepiness (somnolence) and sedation 2023 meta-analysis of CBD trials Listed among adverse events more likely on CBD than placebo
Serious adverse events 2023 meta-analysis of CBD trials More likely on CBD than placebo (odds ratio 2.86)

A French CBD retailer’s side-effect guide (cbdoo.fr) also lists drowsiness, dry mouth, loss of appetite, fatigue and nausea. It gives no study or frequencies, so read that list as the retailer’s, not as research.

Can CBD gummies cause headaches, dizziness or stomach problems?

For stomach problems, the trials name diarrhea. Nausea and stomach discomfort appear only on the French retailer’s list, which gives no frequency. Headache and dizziness are listed as side effects of THC, the intoxicating cannabinoid, not as CBD effects in the sources above. If a headache or dizziness starts after you begin, note when it started and what dose you took, and tell your clinician.

If you take blood pressure medicine, ask your pharmacist before your first gummy. Any change in blood pressure is worth a professional check.

Which medicines interact with CBD?

The research above names one medicine: clobazam, an anti-seizure medicine. In the 2023 meta-analysis, clobazam taken with CBD was among the factors linked with a greater effect on seizures and on side effects. A 2023 NHLBI workshop on cannabis and cannabinoids said that co-use of cannabis with tobacco, alcohol, opioids and other substances “warrants further study to understand potential drug interactions.” That statement is about cannabis, so treat it as a reason to check, not a rule.

For blood thinners, diabetes medicines, thyroid medicines and antidepressants, take your full medicine list to a pharmacist before you start.

Who should ask a clinician first?

The BioVera sales page’s disclosure says these products “are not for use by or sale to persons under the age of 21.” It also says, “They should not be used if you are pregnant or nursing,” and “Consult with a physician before use if you have a serious medical condition or use prescription medications.” If you have surgery planned, tell your surgeon about any CBD you take.

How to start, and when to stop

The BioVera sales page’s first step is headed “DAILY DOSE OF CBD GUMMIES,” and it says the gummies “can be taken daily.” It also says products “should be used only as directed on the label.” Begin with the label’s serving, note how you feel over the first days, and if a side effect bothers you or keeps going, stop and talk with a clinician.

What the seller says about side effects, and where it differs

The BioVera sales page says the gummies have “NO SIDE EFFECTS,” that CBD “is completely safe,” and that it “will not harm you in any way.” The same page includes the disclosure asking you to consult a physician if you have a serious medical condition or take prescription medicine. Read the “no side effects” line as the seller’s claim. The trials above reported side effects for CBD.

The sales page also lists what CBD “may” do: reduce pain and chronic aches, relieve anxiety and stress, enhance focus and clarity, and promote healthy sleep. For why that matters, see our why trials need a placebo group (our research library) explainer. The customer testimonials on the page describe individual experiences, not typical results.

Can CBD gummies make you fail a drug test?

The BioVera sales page lists “0%THC” and says the gummies are “Non-Psychoactive.” A 2023 NHLBI workshop cited “the lack of standardization in the production and labeling of cannabis products,” so check the batch report, not just the front of the bottle. Ask the company for a third-party lab report for the batch you are buying, and read our THC drug testing and detection guide before you order.

Is BioVera CBD Gummies legit, and how do you check the seller?

Confirm the seller’s name, address and return terms on its terms page before you enter payment details. The BioVera sales page’s disclosure says: “These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA.” An FDA labeling document describes the rule that a dietary supplement label must include a domestic address or domestic telephone number through which a serious adverse event report can be received. Look for that on the bottle. Side effects can be reported to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088, a number listed on a Cleveland Clinic medicine sheet.

Before you order

  • Ask the company for the full ingredient list and the amount of CBD in each gummy. The BioVera sales page shows neither.
  • Ask which form is in the bottle: CBD isolate or cold-pressed unrefined oil.
  • Ask for the batch lab report that shows THC content.
  • Ask for the written return steps for the full-month trial.
  • Check the price and the discount’s end date at checkout. The sales page says the discount is valid until November 2, 2026.
  • Talk to a pharmacist or clinician first if you take prescription medicine, are pregnant or nursing, or have a serious medical condition.
