The Health Data Consortium (HDC) website www.healthdataconsortium.org is a service that is intended to provide useful information for HDC members, consumers and other interested persons, in furtherance of HDC's mission as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation. The website is funded through HDC member dues and other program fees. Editorial content is prepared and reviewed by HDC staff. Privacy Policy
HDC recognizes the importance of protecting the privacy of information provided to us. Accordingly, we strive for compliance with all federal and state privacy laws and follow industry best practices applicable to our site in order to best serve our community. We consider all members, subscribers, customers, registrants, conference attendees and speakers part of the HDC community. The following describes our commitment to the privacy of our visitors and members.

HDC does not disclose to third parties any information that may be associated with a particular individual gathered as a result of interaction with the HDC website. HDC may assign a cookie to each site visitor so we can identify that user each time he or she returns to the website. This cookie is used only to 1) keep track of how many unique users visit the site, and 2) assist the site's collaborative filtering software in making more accurate content recommendations.

When joining HDC, registering for our meetings, and purchasing products and services from us, we will use your email to send you information that we believe will be of interest to you. Information Collected and Stored Automatically
HDC automatically collects a limited amount of non-personal information about the use of its website, primarily for statistical purposes (that is, to measure the numbers of visitors to various sections of the site). This information may also be helpful when we are considering changes to make the site more useful to visitors. Of the information we learn about you from your visit to the site, we store only the following: 1) the IP address from which you access the Internet, 2) the date and time, 3) the Internet address of the website from which you linked directly to our site, 4) the name of the file or the words you searched, and 5) the browser used to access our site. This information is used to measure the number of visitors to the various sections of our site and identify system performance or problem areas.

Security
For site security purposes and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, we use software programs to monitor traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage.

Financial and Customer Information
HDC takes reasonable precautions to protect your information from unauthorized use.  Our site uses order forms that allow customers to request information, products, and services. We collect a visitor's contact information (e-mail address), unique identifiers (their membership identification number), and financial information (account or credit card numbers). Contact information collected from the order form is used to send orders to customers. Financial information is used to collect payment from the user for billable products and services.

Business Transfer
HDC reserves the right to transfer, assign, share, sell or otherwise engage in a transaction that involves some or all of our assets, including any or all user information, in the course of a sale, dissolution, bankruptcy, merger, or any other similar transaction or proceeding.

Children’s Privacy
Our website is directed at an adult audience. HDC does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. If HDC obtains knowledge that it has personally identifiable information about a child under 13 in retrievable form in its files, HDC will delete that information from our existing files.
